What is the expected lifespan of my roof? The lifespan of your roof depends on the material used:
- Shingle Roof: Typically lasts 15-20 years, but heavy winds and frequent storms can reduce its lifespan.
- Metal Roof: Known for its durability, metal roofs can last 35+ years with minimal maintenance.
- Tile Roof: They can last anywhere from 20-40 years, depending on the quality of the material and exposure to the elements.
-
How do I start the process of getting my roof replaced?
You can start by contacting us via our website or phone. We offer a free roof inspection to assess your roof’s condition. Based on this inspection, we’ll provide a detailed estimate. Depending on the situation, we can measure your roof using specialized software or conduct a full inspection. There’s no cost for the consultation, and we’re available to address any questions you have throughout the process.
-
What happens after I sign a contract for my roof?Once you sign a contract with us, our production team will send you a Notice of Commencement (NOC) to sign. This document allows us to apply for the necessary permits from the local municipality, which takes 1-3 weeks. You’ll also receive a color selection sheet to choose the tile, shingle, or metal for your roof. Once we receive the deposit, we’ll order the materials, confirm your selections, and set the start date for your roof installation.
-
How long will it take to complete my shingle roof project?Typically, a shingle roof replacement takes about 1-2 weeks from the time the materials are delivered until the final inspection. Actual work on the roof typically takes about 3 days, but the overall timeline includes municipal inspections and weather contingencies.
-
How long will it take to complete my metal roof project?A metal roof replacement usually takes 2-3 weeks. The actual labor takes about 3 days, but the timeline is extended due to municipal inspections and other factors. Metal roofing materials are custom-made and require precision, which also affects the timeframe.
-
How long will it take to complete my tile roof project?Tile roof replacements also take about 2-3 weeks to complete. While the installation process itself takes around 3 days, inspections and material delivery can extend the overall timeline. Tile is heavier than other materials, so additional care is required.
-
How long will it take to get a permit to start my roof project?Permit timelines depend on the municipality. For instance, if your property is located in Cape Coral, the permit process typically takes 3-8 business days. In Naples, it may take 7-12 business days. Our production team closely monitors this process to ensure a smooth transition to the installation phase.
-
How long is the warranty on my roof? The materials we use come with a limited lifetime warranty. This applies to both shingles and tile. In addition, we offer a 5-year workmanship warranty, ensuring that our installation meets high-quality standards.
-
What is the basic scope of work during a roof replacement?A roof replacement involves removing the existing roof covering—whether shingle, metal, or tile—down to the plywood deck. We replace damaged plywood and sub-fascia lumber as needed. All vents, pipe boots, and drip edge metals will be replaced. For flashing, only damaged or non-code-compliant pieces will be changed. Gutter, soffit, and fascia replacements are not part of the standard scope but can be added upon request.
-
What are soffit and fascia, and why are they important?Soffit is the material that covers the underside of the roof’s eaves and is typically vented to allow airflow into your attic. Fascia is the flat board that covers the ends of the rafters and helps secure the soffit. Both help protect your roof and house from moisture, and they also improve the overall appearance of your home.
-
What are gutters and why are they important?Gutters are installed along the roof’s edge to collect rainwater and direct it away from your home. This prevents soil erosion around your foundation, mitigates water damage, and helps manage drainage in areas with poor runoff. They can also add a finished look to your roof’s exterior.
-
What kind of shingles do we provide? We primarily recommend Atlas Pinnacle Pristine Shingles, known for their durability and algae resistance. We also offer other leading brands like Owens Corning, GAF, TAMKO, and IKO. For a full range of color selections, check with our team for current availability.
-
What kind of metal roofing do we provide? We source high-quality metal panels from Metal Alliance, which offers a wide range of options for durability and aesthetics. The metal is custom-cut on-site for each project, ensuring a precise fit.
-
What kind of tile roofing do we provide? We work with top tile suppliers like Eagle, Boral, and Crown to provide a broad selection of concrete and clay tile options. For more specialized tiles, we offer Brava and Verea clay tiles, as well as porcelain options.
-
Can I switch from a shingle roof to a metal roof?
Yes, switching from a shingle to a metal roof is possible without the need for additional engineering. Metal roofing is lighter than tile, so it can often be installed on structures originally designed for shingles.
-
Can I switch from a shingle roof to a tile roof?Yes, you can switch from a shingle to a tile roof, but an engineer must assess your home’s structural integrity. Tile is much heavier than shingles, so the roof’s framework may need reinforcement to safely support the additional weight.
-
What is the minimum slope for shingles?2:12 is the minimum slope allowed by code for shingle roofing.
-
How many nails per shingle?Florida Building Code requires 6 nails per shingle for proper installation.
-
